If you've been buying salon products at retail prices, or shopping from one of the big-box chain wholesalers and feeling like a number, opening an account with a dedicated wholesale distributor is one of the highest-leverage moves you can make for your salon's margins. This guide walks through who qualifies for a Beauty Canada wholesale account, what you'll need to apply, and what to expect once you're set up.

Who qualifies

Beauty Canada is wholesale-only, which means we sell exclusively to licensed beauty industry professionals and businesses. The categories that qualify:

  • Licensed hairstylists, barbers and colourists with an active professional credential
  • Licensed estheticians and skincare professionals
  • Salon and barbershop owners with a registered business
  • Beauty schools and training institutions
  • Spa and aesthetics businesses with appropriate licensing
  • Mobile and freelance pros with valid certification and business registration

What we don't sell

We don't sell to the general public. We don't sell to businesses outside the beauty industry. This isn't snobbery — it's how the manufacturer relationships and pricing structures work. Professional product lines are sold professional-to-professional, and the wholesale pricing we offer is built on that.

If a friend or client asks where you get your professional products, the answer is "from my wholesale distributor" — not a link to our site. We trust our account holders to keep that line.

Documents you'll need

To open an account, you'll be asked for two or three things depending on your category:

  • Proof of professional licence — a photo or scan of your active hairstyling, barbering, esthetics or other relevant licence. Issued by your provincial regulatory body.
  • Business registration — if you're applying as a salon, spa or shop owner. This can be a business licence, GST/HST number, or articles of incorporation.
  • A primary contact and shipping address — where orders should arrive. For mobile pros, this can be a home address.

For salons applying on behalf of multiple stylists, the account is held in the business name, with the business owner or manager as the primary contact. Individual stylists working under that salon can place orders on the account with permission.

The application process

The flow is straightforward:

  1. Submit your application. Email us your documents and basic contact information via our contact page, or call directly during business hours.
  2. Account verification. We review the documents and verify the credentials. This usually takes one or two business days.
  3. Account activation. Once verified, you'll get login credentials for the wholesale site, where you can see wholesale pricing, place orders, and access your order history.
  4. First order. First orders ship out within one to two business days of being placed, from our Calgary warehouse. You'll get tracking as soon as it leaves us.

There's no application fee, no annual minimum, and no commitment. If you don't order for six months, your account stays open.

What account holders get

Beyond wholesale pricing, an active account comes with a few things that aren't always obvious upfront:

  • Calgary-warehoused stock, which means most of Canada gets product in two to four business days via ground.
  • Real human support. Account questions, product questions, technical questions — there's a person who picks up.
  • Access to new launches and seasonal kits as they release.

Do you have minimum orders?
No minimum order requirement for active accounts. Order what you need.

What about freight?
Freight is calculated at checkout based on your address and order size. Larger orders frequently qualify for free shipping — the threshold is shown at checkout.

I'm a new salon, not yet open. Can I still apply?
Yes. If you have your business registration in process and your stylist licence active, get in touch and we'll set you up so you have product ready for your opening.

Do you supply other brands besides FarmaVita?
